Backstories: Alone in the Ice is the first chapter of the Backstories saga, a narrative investigative game that combines adventure, puzzles, and intuitive mechanics in an experience inspired by classic point-and-click video games. As Sophie, you must reach the icy peaks of Mont Blanc to find out what happened to your brother Jean and bring him home.
Jean was investigating the legendary Amber Room, the treasure that disappeared in the 1940s, but hidden in the mountains are secrets much older and more dangerous than you could have ever imagined. Every step through ice, mysteries, and buried truths will bring you closer to the solution, but also to new threats.
In Backstories: Alone in the Ice, some cards represent the places and landscapes you explore, while the Action Cards indicate what you can do, such as talking, searching, examining objects, and interacting with the environment. Thanks to the special window on the Action Cards, you just need to overlap them with the back of the Panorama Cards to discover the outcome of your choices and advance the story.
Freedom of decision is at the heart of the experience: you can use objects, choose different approaches, and find the most suitable path to achieve your goals. Will you rely on charm and persuasion, or will you prefer to proceed with cunning, logic, and determination?
Every decision can change the course of the adventure, opening new possibilities or leading to unexpected consequences. Ideal for those who love investigative board games, narrative games, tabletop escape games, and atmospheric adventures, Backstories: Alone in the Ice invites you to explore a gripping mystery where every choice matters. Head to Mont Blanc, uncover the secrets hidden beneath the ice, and live your adventure.
